Description
This upright, multi-branched, deciduous shrub has medium green, maple shaped leaves. Leaves turn yellow then red during fall, then drop to the ground exposing orange-red stems. It reaches 4-6' tall and wide, with a tall arching or rounded habit. The rose-red or white flowers appear in clusters in spring, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. This shrub can tolerate full to part sun with well-draining soil. Bluish black berries appear after bloom period. It has a sour taste. Established plants are drought tolerant. An attractive Oregon native for all seasons. Several cultivars available now.
