Pinus thunbergii
Japanese Black Pine
Description
This Pinus variety slowly reaches 25-75' tall and 15-25' wide. It has an irregular shape, with dark gray-green needles. It does best in full sun with fertile, moist, well draining soil. This pine tolerates the ocean influence, even down to the shore line, growing in sandy soil. This evergreen conifer can be grown in containers for bonsai. Many varieties available but makes a nice specimen tree.
