Description

This Oregon native is a deciduous broadleaf shrub that reaches 4-8' tall and 3-6' wide. This shrub grows upright and erect. Leaves are gray-green and slightly toothed on margins. During summer, soft creamy-white clusters of flowers hang on branch ends, followed by small brown seed clusters. This shrub does best in full sun with well-draining soil. Established plants tolerate drought. Though not long-lived, this plant is glorious when blooming and provides shelter for birds and small mammals, including tree frogs. Birds and squirrels eat seeds that persist through winter. This plant can be used as a windbreak.
