Description
Deciduous shrub or tree from Japan. It does best in full sun. It reaches 20' tall and 15-20' wide. Protect from hot drying winds. Small, yellowish white clusters of fragrant flowers appear in spring, followed by small, reddish brown fruit that are evident even in fall. Leaves are lobed and a deep green color. Fall foliage is spectacular, changing to red. Remove crossing branches if necessary. It can be pruned as a large shrub or small tree. Great for urban areas. Does best in well draining soil. Considered invasive in the Midwest.
