Description
Tilia tomentosa or Silver Linden, is native to Southeastern Europe and Western Asia. It has attractive foliage, which is dark green above and silverish white below. The movement of the leaves is very eye catching with bi-color foliage fluttering back and forth. Cream colored, fragrant flowers appear in late spring, attracting bees. Bark is dark brown and ribbed. This deciduous tree reaches 40' tall and 25' wide. Mature trees have rounded crown and erect branches. Prune to retain a central leader for structural integrity. This tree does best in full sun with moist, fertile, well draining soil.
