Common name:Japanese Maple
Botanical name:Acer palmatum

This magnificient plant can used as a small tree or shrub. It is deciduous with graceful leaves which have a scarlet color in spring as it leafs out. Leaves later turn orange or yellow in fall. It is slow growing to 20', and requires shelter from the hot sun. The leaves of this tree are small, light green in color, and deeply lobed. It should also be noted that this tree remains spectacular throughout all seasons. (2nd photo courtesy of Steve Mullany)

Common name:Flowering or Eastern Dogwood
Botanical name:Cornus florida

20-30'+ tall, and a horizontal branching pattern, often wider than its height. Flowering Dogwood, flowers densely in May and again in the fall. The spring fruit appears as clusters. Good air circulation is required. scarlet oval scarlet oval 'Cherokee Princess' & 'Cloud Nine' are pure white flowering selections. 'Stellar Pink' is a pink flowering cultivar.

Needlepoint English Ivy

Common name:Needlepoint English Ivy
Botanical name:Hedera helix 'Needlepoint'

This groundcover will grow about 6"-12" high and makes a great alternative for lawns. It has bright green leaves and is deer resistant.

Japanese Lace Fern

Common name:Japanese Lace Fern
Botanical name:Polystichum X bicknellii

Polystichum setuosum grows 2'-3' tall and 3' wide. This finely cut, dense, lacy-looking plant has dark green fronds.
