Description

The Leyland Cypress can quickly reach 25-50' tall and 10-15' wide. It may have a columnar or pyramidal habit. Green sprays of foliage are scale-like and graceful looking. They are arranged on flat sprays on long slender branches. This evergreen conifer does best in full sun with moist, well draining, fertile soil. However, it is tolerant of average or lean soil. This plant can be pruned to create a dense hedge or windbreak. Many varieties exist, thus making it very popular. Bark is reddish-brown and scaly.

Water Saving Tip:

Mulching and adding compost to soil can minimize evaporation and help soil absorb and store water.
