Description
Juniperus scopulorum, the Rocky Mountain juniper, is an evergreen conifer that reaches 20' tall and 2-6' wide. It has a narrow, pyramidal habit often with several stems and dense foliage. Leaves are gray-green needles that are scale-like. It does best in full sun with well-draining soil. Established plants are drought tolerant. There is a pleasant fragrance during the summer. Tie up branches during the winter if there is heavy snow or ice. Many varieties are available and used for bonsai.
